Due to the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we're experimenting the largest remote work experiment. But did we really need a pandemic to take us to the future of work?
Thanks to the digital era and available collaboration tools, the virtual workplace has become the new office. After all, we can't escape the future of work. By 2028, 73% of all departments will have remote teams.
As opposed to popular belief, only 60% of the working hours in the office are productive. Without countless meetings, distractions, and interruptions from colleagues; remote workers are 13% more productive than in-office workers. Why is that? In a survey of 3000 people, 75% of employees indicated they got fewer interruptions and distractions from team members and could stay productive.
The benefits of working from home are not only tangible, but also intrinsic. The 2019 State of Remote Work Survey found that over 80% of employees would feel more trusted if able to work remotely. They also said they would even recommend their company to a friend, manage their personal life better and be happier. These are all indirectly related to increasing employee retention.
